Catalonia will be the World Region of Gastronomy in 2025. It will thus become the first European region to receive this distinction.
The recognition confirms the consolidation of an innovative and regenerative tourism model where the gastronomic revolution in Catalonia goes far beyond the restaurant and opens the doors to discovering the territory and local and unique food production.
The World Region of Gastronomy is an initiative promoted by the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism (IGCAT), a non-profit institute that has been working with consortia of regional entities and agents in the field of gastronomy, culture, arts and tourism since 2010. It has the global experience of a global network of experts and collaborates with specialized intergovernmental organizations.
Catalonia is a benchmark in food and gastronomic excellence, a leader in wine and food tourism. Catalonia has a cuisine that speaks of history, landscapes, the people who inhabit them, their customs, life, present and future. Being a World Region of Gastronomy is a great opportunity to continue explaining ourselves at home and to the world.
